An improvement on last season's sixth position will be expected after David O'Leary turned the club's fortunes around. The club finished three points off relegation the season before but were unlucky not to make the Champions League last May. Despite operating on a limited budget, the spine of the side has been strengthened by the arrival of AC Milan defender Martin Laursen, Chelsea striker Carlton Cole on loan and Nantes midfielder Mathieu Berson is expected to sign.
