I'm going for a change of tactic in predicting this televised game by offering my first over / under bet of the season. I enjoyed a good degree of success predicting whether or not goals would be scored in various Champions League matches last season and am confident on a winning start here. This match appears likely to go over 2.5 goals as both sides have averaged this figure in their last four games and this fixture has produced over 2.5 goals in four of their last six meetings at St. James' Park. The last game ended 6-2 in Man United's favour and Newcastle's rearguard could be weakened by Jon Woodgate's absence, while Craig Bellamy is also missing. If new Reds signing Christiano Ronaldo causes half as much havoc as he did against Bolton and veteran Alan Shearer continues the form he showed in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Leeds, there will be goals in this match.
