Sunderland will not have a better chance to end a wretched 16-match losing streak, and, live on television. Football-Betting.co.uk backed against Sunderland on Saturday, but even though they lost 2-0 to Nottingham Forest, they created enough chances to take at least a point from the game. If they can fashion half as many chances tonight, they should win easily. Out of favour striker Tore Andre Flo could feature tonight in a bid to help out the lively Michael Proctor who's woeful finishing at Forest cost his side the game. Even though Kevin Phillips is unlikely to play, Sunderland have enough firepower in Proctor, Kyle, Stewart and the ú6.75 million Flo to cause their third division opponents some real problems. While new skipper Jason McAteer, full-back Stephen Wright and central defender Joachim Bjorklund are all carrying knocks and are unlikely to be involved, recent signing Jeff Whitley and midfielder Sean Thornton are tipped to feature. Even though Sunderland were dismal last season, they beat another third division side, Cambridge United, 7-0 in this competition, something Mansfield will be all too aware of. |
