As soon as I saw this fixture I immediately thought United could win it 4-0 due to Greek teams being notoriously poor travellers and United thrashing Olympiakos at Old Trafford by the same score last season. Originally I was going to advise a bet over 2.5 goals but as Keane and Scholes, United's driving force, are missing and Veron, who was spectacular in the Champions League for the Reds last season, is now at Chelsea, I am unsure of United's capability to score the expected truckload of goals. They may be happy enough with a 1-0 or 2-0 victory. A better bet is to back Ruud van Nistelrooy to score a goal at any time. He relished scoring in Europe last season and will be at the forefront of all United's attacks. If United do go on to steamroll their opponents tonight, the Dutchman could score a couple, but we only need one. |
