Following a 3-0 home defeat last weekend and Carling Cup exit at Huddersfield midweek, it is essential we oppose Derby on Saturday. They travel to a physical Gillingham side who beat them 1-0 last season and one which will relish playing a team of youngsters and Ian Taylor. Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler is almost certainly out of the Gillingham squad after sustaining a hamstring injury at Cambridge in midweek. Midfielder Mark Saunders is also doubtful with a shin injury while Marlon King, Paul Smith, Kevin James and Rod Wallace are also out. Derby County boss George Burley has tried to strengthen his hapless side by loaning in Michael Johnson and Lee Bradbury but they won't be enough. Home win. |
