This is a real basemant clash as rock-bottom Carlisle travel to 20th placed Cheltenham. The home side have had mixed fortunes this season, one of the reasons they are hovering dangerously above relegation, but can take heart from victories against Yeovil and Northampton at Whaddon Road, and are of course undefeated home and away against Hull, dumping the league leaders out of the FA Cup two weeks ago. Carlisle are not bottom of the league for nothing, they have lost eight out of nine on their travels, only managing to secure a draw against struggling Southend in September. F-B tipped Mansfield beat Carlisle last weekend and they duly obliged and there is no reason why Cheltenham cannot put some daylight between themselves and the drop by condemning their opponents to yet another defeat. Cheltenham have won all three home fixtures against Carlisle since their promotion to the Third Division and tricky striker Paul Brayson could make them pay on Saturday afternoon - he has scored just one league goal all season and won't get a better opportunity to improve on his tally. |
