We profited well from backing teams to beat their lower league opponents in the Carling Cup back in August, with the likes of Reading, Sheffield United and Sunderland giving us winning bets. I am hoping a similar outcome will occur tonight int he Spanish Cup as F-B's Euro correspondent was keen to sing the praises of Villareal tonight. The Primera Liga side are facing Alicante, a team currently 14th in the Spanish Division 2b Group 3. Last season, Villareal were dumped out of the first round of the Copa del Rey by little Hercules (coincidentally the other team from Alicante and who play in the same Rico Perez stadium). In order to avoid a similar humiliation this time around Villareal will field a full-strength side, including Roman Riquelme and Jose Mari. For a team who should prove a gulf apart in class for their opponents, Villareal are a decent price and should be backed. |
